About You'll Never
All songs recorded in the back bedroom of my house on Winslow Avenue in Saint Paul. Life was pretty happy. I was the Owner and Marketing Officer of a company called NorthWrite that was doing ok. We have about 25 employees and hundreds of customers. I had a 2 year old bundle of energy named Joyce Sweetpea McManus, and my wife Barbie was cool as can be.
Barbie was telling me I had to get a CD completed so I worked for a couple of months pulling these songs together. I pulled in Marc Retish (NorthWrite employee, drummer and songwriter) and we did one of the acoustic songs up at his cabin in Northern Minnesota. After getting it all pulled together, I brought it over to Greg Rierson (Rareform Mastering) to master the CD. I have know Greg for years and besides being a seriously fast runner, he is a great guy and probably the best mastering engineer around.
I really don't know that to think about the song list. It is all over the place from a sound standpoint with different ideas. The album artwork is a bunch of collages that I did and a list of all my friends and musical influences. The idea for the album title was pulled together because my rather disturbed Father usta tell me in a fit of alcohol stupor "you'll never amount to anything". Ah. The good old days.
